There are facials, and then there are skin rescue treatments where clinical efficacy meets pampering luxury. The latter is one that nurtures and heals our skin in a way that gives our complexion an instant inner glow-up.
Full confession: not all facials work for my sensitive skin that often flares up with eczema. Microdermabrasion is a tad rough, even mild peels are out of the question. My years as a magazine editor sampling beauty products and treatments would become occasional occupational hazards.
I was delighted when my trusted “skin guru” Dr Isabelle Yeoh, started IYAC Medspa a few years ago with a variety of treatments I knew would be safe for my skin. The treatment that has become my go-to, which I’ve nicknamed their “star treatment”, is the Signature Glow Facial. In a nutshell, it encompasses gentle cleansing and exfoliation that even sensitive skins can tolerate, deeply nourishing oxygen infusion, relaxing face massage for lymphatic drainage, with LED healing for the final flourish.
In recent years, oxygen facials have become a spa favourite, gaining popularity for its non-invasive approach to rejuvenating tired, dull skin. In fact, they have become a pre-red carpet necessity during Oscar Season.
The Signature Glow Facial at IYAC Medspa has the bonus of a medical grade delivery system and potent combo of oxygen and hyaluronic acid. This 90-minute session begins with Ultrasonic Cleansing that gently exfoliates while it deep cleans the skin. I often request for lighter pressure during this step with the facial therapist.
After thoroughly cleansing and prepping my skin, the therapist uses an Intraceutical pressurised system to infuse a potent combo of oxygen and hyaluronic acid deep into the skin cells. The cool stream of air soothes and relaxes as it lets the serums penetrate the skin. By this time, I’m usually dozing off to the nourishing goodness of the oxygen. My skin is breathing well again!
Next comes the acupressure face massage that kneads and tugs at the tensed muscles in the face. Thanks to the Korean and Japanese facial traditions, face massages have gained popularity worldwide. Most of us unconsciously clench our jaws and tighten our face muscles throughout the day due to stress and constant peering at our screens. A face massage not only eases the tension which help lift our features, it aids lymphatic drainage and blood circulation that will depuff the face.
The last 10 minutes of the treatment is the healing finale with BellaLux LED — an advance light therapy that uses light-emitting diode (LED) photomodulation to treat moderate sun damage, tighten pores, stimulate collagen and renew skin cells —to restore healthy skin.
What makes this facial extra-special for me is the use of my favourite safe skincare range Forest MD, also created by Dr Yeoh. The face massage is done with their super-light and nurturing White Lotus Intensive Oil and crowd-pleasing Stem Cell Sleeping Mask.
It’s worth noting that all their facials are done with Forest MD skincare products, which are safe and healing for sensitive skin like mine. If you’re looking for a facial treatment that leaves your skin radiant, plumped, and refreshed, or just for a pre-event glow-up, this Signature Glow Facial could be your next go-to.
